Running WILD Trail Run is held at Maplewood State Park located seven miles east of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota on State Highway 108 in Otter Tail County. The park offers more than 9,000 acres of tree-covered hills, including clear lakes nestled in deep valleys, hardwood forests, wild flowers, a variety of wild life and 25 miles of hiking trails.
We encourage you to enjoy Maplewood State Park after the race. Bring your swimsuits, towels and a picnic for the day and enjoy Lake Lida. The beach is just steps away from the start line.
Signs will direct you to the race as you enter the park on race day. (see the map at the bottom of page)
The Running WILD course navigates through the beautiful, bur challenging terrain of northwest Minnesota. The 7K terrain includes some uneven ground, lots of mini hills, a gravel road, moderately challenging hills and the rigorous Ironwood Trail Hill.
The 1 Mile LIFE Hike is an out and back course.
All events include a single day state park pass.
Parking will be available at the Josh Hanson Memorial Picnic Shelter Parking Lot. When that lot fills, there will be additional overflow parking and a shuttle to the start. There will be traffic/parking attendants on hand the morning of the race. We encourage Running Wild participants to consider car pool due to limited parking.
AWARDS & RESULTS:
A short awards ceremony will follow the race at 11:00 am. Awards will be presented to the top 3 overall male and female finishers in the 7K and 1 Mile races. Age division awards will be presented, as well. The awards for the KIDS runs will take place earlier, immediately following those races.
Results will be posted when they are available.
